A Trip to the Hospital

After 8 hours of cramping today I decided to go to the hospital and get checked out. I knew I wasn't in labor but I wasn't really sure what was going on. I drank water all day at work but didn't really stay off my feet because it was a busy day. I was on the monitor for about 2 hours and had one 20 second contraction...not too exciting. I was not dilated but was a little effaced. I was also tested for a bladder infection (which was negative). Luckily it was a lot of excitment for nothing. The doctor (Dr. Johnston) said my body was telling me that I was doing too much and needed to rest. Uh, no rest for me in this lifetime! But, I sure don't want a 24 weeker so I will try my best. I don't know if I'm going to make it at work for the whole nine months. My boss will have a heart attack! Oh, the most exciting part of the evening was getting to lay next to a prisoner in triage! She came in in an orange jumpsuit with handcuffs and two cops. There was no privacy at all so I heard all about her. She was arrested for being on cocaine...and she was 25 weeks pregnant. So sad to think I was crying thinking I was going into labor at 24 weeks and she was out doing cocaine and who knows what else during her pregnancy. Sometimes life just isn't fair. By the way, she was going through withdrawl...not labor.

San Antonio, locked up dogs, and contractions???

We went to San Antonio on Saturday for a wedding...that we missed. We got there at 3:00 thinking the wedding was at 4:00 but it was actually at 3:00. We did make it to the reception since it started at 6:30. It was fun seeing Mondo's dad's family...until two bad things happened to me. First, my dad called us at around 8:00 and said that he had no way to get into our house to let out dogs out. We brainstormed for a few minutes and decided that he was right, there was no way for him to get in. So it was either go home that night or let them tuff if out until Sunday evening. We decided that it was stupid to go home so we let them suffer. (By the way, they ended up being fine and not even messing up their cage!) I had to leave the reception and go to the room and cry for a while for being a bad doggie mom. So, I come back to the reception for about and hour and a half and start having contractions! Remember, I just turned 24 weeks on Friday. I had about 5 contractions in 10 minutes. They weren't really too painful but were definitely not Braxton Hicks. So, I went to the room again to lay down and drink water. They went away on their own. I think I was just dehydrated. I was so worried that I was going to have a 24 weeker in San Antonio! So now I'm trying to increase my water intake and take it easy...easier said than done chasing a 2 year old and working 12 hours shifts. Bed rest here I come!

Slip 'N Slide Fun

We bought Ethan a slip and slide yesterday. He wasn't quite sure about running and sliding on it, but he did enjoy splashing in it. I think Mondo had more fun than Ethan did. He showed Ethan how to run and slide but Ethan wasn't buying it. I swore that there would be no pictures of Mondo on the slip and slide, sorry you'll have to miss out.

First Entry

Ok, I'm following the suggestion of a few friends and joining the blogging world. I think it will be easier to keep everyone updated on my life without having to send so many emails...especially once Caleb gets here. This post has nothing exciting in it. I'm going to attach a picture just to see if I know how. Wish me luck...
