Little Drummer Boy

You'll have to pardon his ghetto drumsticks. He has broken all of the other real ones he had. We had to resort to kitchen utensils. He's crazy about his drumming!

First Bath with Brother

I thought it was time to try putting the kiddos in the bath tub together. Summer suggested using the Bumbo seat since she did that with her kids. And, yes, I did read the sticker on the back that says "not for use in bath tub". It seemed like a good idea but it didn't work out too well. I pushed the seat down to suction it to the tub but every few seconds it would pop up and slowly try to fall over. I don't know if I had too much water in it or if Caleb was just too wiggly. I'll have to try it again with less water. Summer said she never had an issue with it falling. Anyway, they boys had a great time together. So great that after I had Caleb out and dressed I realized that I never actually washed Ethan with soap! So, I had to go back in for a quick scrub down.

Caleb's hair is a little too thin for a mohawk but I managed a little baby one.

Spontaneous kiss from big brother.

His face was so cute when I first put him in and he realized he was sitting up just like his big brother. Look at those fat rolls!

Ethan like to rinse his own hair now.

And he thought he'd rinse Caleb's too.

This was right after...and he's about to get it again!

All clean!

Mother's Day

I had a great and exhausting Mother's Day. I worked Saturday night and got home at 7:30am on Sunday. Ethan greeted me at the door with a loud "Happy Mother's Day, Mommy!" I walked in and found the kitchen table covered in rose petals with two Mother's Day cards, and a digital picture frame. Mondo out-did himself. He uploaded some favorite pics of the boys and took some new ones the night before. The frame plays music while the pics are rotating. He uploaded our wedding song, Edwin McCain's "I Could Not Ask for More." Awwww! There are pics below that show the table. Thanks Mondie for helping the boys make a memorable Mother's Day. (I ended up staying awake until 7:30pm after spending the day at my sister's with my mom and family...I couldn't miss out on Mother's Day!)

This was right before church. Look how tan Ethan is! I always joked that I would have a brown one and a white one.

Little Caleb-poo.

This was right after he threw a fit because he didn't want his picture taken.

Here's the kitchen table. Ethan and Caleb signed and decorated their cards.

This was one of the pics Mondo took the night before to put on the slideshow on the frame. I promise he's not in a headlock. :-)

They never want to look at the same time!

I was pretty impressed that Mondo thought to do this pic. This was the night before also.

Here are some of the things I've learned from being a mother of two:

1. I can do anything with one hand.

2. I can be in the middle of eating, go change a dirty diaper, get barfed on, help Ethan with the potty, then come right back to eating again unphased.

3. I can feed Caleb, watch TV, read a magazine, and play a game with Ethan all at the same time.

4. Anything can become a bathroom when you need it to be.

5. I used to look forward to spending rainy days in bed watching TV. Now they are spent trying to figure out what to do with two children all day without going outside.

6. I can take a shower in 2 minutes.

7. My minivan is my second home. It has been a makeshift kitchen, bathroom, playroom, and a dressing room.

8. I am now capable of going into public with no makeup. Come on, who is looking at me anyway these days? I'm toting around two kids wearing oversized t-shirts covered in baby spit. I'm super hot.

9. The laundry is never "done" and the kitchen never stays clean. It is only a matter of seconds after I'm done before there is a dirty sippy cup, bottle, or shirt.

10. I can stay awake for two days straight if it means spending time with my kids (although I may be a beast later).

11. It never fails, when one cries they both cry.

12. The bottle barely hits Caleb's lips before I inevitably hear, "Mommy, I'm done!" coming from the bathroom.

13. Sometimes you just have to laugh instead of yell.

14. It's always easier to be the nice parent when you haven't been home with them all day.

15. It's important to spend alone time with each child whenever possible.

Most of all, I've learned that I have more love to give than I thought possible. I've learned that I never come first anymore and I don't want to. Everything I do is for my kids. I may never sleep longer than 4 hours at a time but I am truely blessed and wouldn't have it any other way.

Ethan's Performance

I finally caught him on camera. He is constantly singing but never wants me to video him. This is a bunch of different songs all mixed together. It starts with a song he made up then goes to "Don't you forget about me" from the Breakfast Club then goes to a song from the Doodlebops. Enjoy.

Caleb is 5 Months Old!

Here he is sitting up slightly supported.

If you can't tell what that says it's "If you think I'm cute you should see my Dad!"

My tiny little Caleb is growing up so fast. It seems like he has changed so much just in this last month. He is a lot less crabby and will actually go to someone other than mommy and daddy which is nice. He laughs a lot, especially at his big brother. Ethan can always get a laugh out of him. Caleb is so busy lately. He can roll tummy to back and his new trick is back to tummy. He almost immediately rolls from back to tummy when you lay him down. I definitely can't leave him for one second anymore. Here's a little story about that: The other day Ethan was outside playing in his new swimming pool. Caleb was getting fussy so I took him inside, wrapped him up, gave him his paci, and put him in the swing. I went back out to check on Ethan then came in to get the phone. In that 30-45 second time frame, Caleb had completely unwrapped himself, flipped over on his tummy, and was hanging half out of the swing screaming. Needless to say, there is no picture of that. I sprinted over and rescued him...and quickly moved the swing to the closet. It does have a seatbelt in it but he rarely sits in it anymore and when he does he wants to sit straight up but the swing is tilted too far back to do that. So, it's gone. Now to the sitting up. He wants to...bad. He can sit unsupported for about 2-3 seconds before he topples over but he can sit supporting himself with his hands for a couple of minutes. I'm pretty impressed. Ethan didn't sit up until he was 6.5 months old. But, we can't compare the two kiddos because we all know that Ethan did everything in his own sweet time (ex: walking at 18 months!!!) I bet Caleb will be the one crawling out of his crib when he hits a year old...or before. When I go in to feed him at 5 or 5:30 he is usually unwrapped wedged in a corner or on his tummy looking at his mobile.

He has mastered flipping over in his crib.

Look at the big drop of spit on his chin. He is constantly drooling. We have to keep a bib on him or he will be drenched!

He is now eating almost all fruits and veggies. He seems to like the veggies more than the fruit...he surely didn't get that from me! He has a raging appetite. When he is super hungry and I'm walking to the couch with him and the bottle, he will lean over and start sucking on the bottle while it's still upright before I can even sit down. He doesn't have any patience.

It's carrot boy! This was the first time he had carrots and he loved them!

He kept holding on to my hand with the spoon in it and was helping to shovel it in his mouth.

So sad...no more carrots.

He is finally sleeping better. He goes to bed around 8:30pm then wakes up around 5 or 6am to eat a bottle, then it's back to sleep till 7:30 or 8am. Sometimes he doesn't want to go back to sleep in his bed and he ends up in mine because I'm too tired to fight him. But most of the time he's in his own bed. I don't sleep well with him in my bed and Ethan wakes him up when he comes in around 7am.

Playdate with Colton

Colton came over last week for some outdoor fun. They played outside in the sprinkler for a long time. I'm dying this week with all the rain! I'm ready to send Ethan back outside. He's like a caged animal!

Here they are eating dinasoar shaped bologna sandwiches. It's the only way I can get Ethan to eat a sandwich. They were so cute with their little lunch trays.

Here they are in the ghetto sprinkler. They could have cared less about the type of sprinkler. Since then I've been to Toys R Us and invested in a few new backyard toys. Look at their little swim diapers. We weren't planning on them getting wet so we didn't have bathing suits ready...we had to improvise.

Ahh, best friends. :-)

Caleb's First Food

Here is Caleb having some bananas for the first time. I guess they were a little more tart than I thought they were. He's not crying in any of the pictures, just making a sour face. You'd think he was eating pickles! Since then, we've mixed them with a little oatmeal and he seems to like them better.
