Zoo Day with Carson

Caleb and I went to the zoo with Traci, Carson, and Ashlyn a few weeks ago.  The weather was beautiful and we had a great time.  I forgot how much I used to take Ethan when he was little.  Poor little Caleb hardly ever gets to go.  He used to get all excited about the monkeys but this time he was all about snakes!  When we first walked in I asked where we should go and he said, "Where are the snakes?  Let's go there!!"

He doesn't look as excited as he was to see that crocodile behind him!

They were cute in their super hero shirts.

Yipes!  Look at that giant snake behind him!  It could swallow him whole!  He kept beating on the glass trying to wake him up.

This was the best pic I could get of the three of them.  The ran in three different directions the whole time.

Feeding the frog to get him to croak.  Tricky zoo people stealing our money!

This was inside the children's play area.

I put Carson to work.  Actually...he wanted to push Caleb.  By the end of the day they were fighting over who was going to push who.

Caleb was SUPER excited about this giant crocodile.

Love that mischievious face!

Lunch time.

We might have ignored the signs that said not to feed the squirrels.  They practically eat out of your hand!

How cute are they?!

We were so excited to find this crocodile!!  It is just what he has been looking for!

Easter Sunday

Easter was extra special this year because it was also the grand opening of our new church building!  It had literally been years since we had been in our own building so it's wonderful to now have a place to call our own.  The only bad part is that it's 15 minutes away from our house instead of 5.  I didn't get very many pictures that day because there were so many people and I was trying to find my way around!

The baptistry (or bathtub as Caleb called it) is now out in the "commons" area so we can all gather around when someone is baptised.  There wasn't a cover on it that day so ALL of the kids were climbing all over it.  It has a cover now...whew!

A view of the auditorium.  Still feels surreal even a few weeks later.  Like it's not really home yet.

The kids LOVE the new playground!!

Family photo attempt.

Love this picture.  Look at all those boy cousins!

Big boy table.

Little boy table.

Ahh...the bunny cake.  Every year the massacre decoration gets worse.

Yep, there's a cake under there.

Let's review.  This is what a bunny cake is supposed to look like.  I think next year we're going to chillax on the amount of candy allowed to touch the bunny.

Of course it started to rain right about the time we were going to hunt eggs.  So we had an egg hunt inside!  I thought it was more fun anyway.

This was the best pic I could get of them with their baskets.  It just wasn't a day for photo ops!

Ethan's Easter Party

I was excited to get to help with Ethan's Easter party at school. Last year it rained on the party day so we had to hide eggs in the classroom. Lame-o. This year was fun because we had the party on the track. We divided up the track into the 4 classes and spread out the eggs according to class. Each kid had 12 eggs with their name on them and a treat inside (sent by the parents). After the hunt they had a healthy snack and water.

Ethan's class. He's the 7th one in from the left...being silly.

Ready to hunt some eggs!

Most of my time was spent helping kids find their eggs.

Ethan and Will.

He was trying to look sad in this picture because he was surrounded by girls. He says they never leave him alone. Haha...and it begins...

His healthy snack prepared by the mom's. A butterfly baggie with grapes and bunny crackers. Too cute!

Field Trip Day

I was so excited to spend field trip day with Ethan at the Ft. Worth Children's Museum. But the day didn't turn out quite like I had planned. In fact, I could've used a bottle of wine and some Ibuprofen after we got home! I thought myself and the other moms would tag along with Ethan's teacher and the entire class. Oh no. Each of the mom's was assigned a group of kids to be in charge of for the day. Once we got there we got our group and then could take them anywhere in the museum only meeting back together for lunch and to leave. Right. Not exactly what I thought I signed up for.

Yipes! That's a giant group of first graders! I was grateful for the yellow vests they all had to wear.

My little group of heathens, I mean kids. The two girls were fine. Ethan was silly. And the other two boys were wild. Like literally rolling/bouncing/runnimg through the halls of the museum. And I might have temporarily lost a kid or two. It was like herding cats!

We watched a 3D movie about discovering natural gas underground when we first got there. Not too fascinating for a first grader. But they did enjoy the special effects. Like getting spit on by a dinosaur.

Learning about dinosaurs.

I think there was a snake in there.

Dr. Hernandez, pediatrician.

I couldn't get them out of the water exhibit outside.

I couldn't watch them spin on this thing without getting a headache. Barf.

I made a lot of paper airplanes. That is a little contraption that shoots them into the air. Pretty fun.

The dino dig is always a favorite! And I liked that the kids were contained and I could sit down. :-)

Lunch!

After lunch we went to the "Grossology" exhibit which was...gross. But I also thought it was interesting from a medical standpoint. I wish I could've sat with Ethan and explained everything to him but I was too busy losing children.

Here they are learning about how you burp.

This thing talked and moved around and taught about snot. Get it...he's a faucet..."my nose is dripping like a faucet."

Ethan climbing on a pimple wall. Totally disgusting.

I thought this was clever. You climb in the mouth, slide down the esophagus into the stomach, then get pooped out the end. Grossology...love it! I tried to get a picture of Ethan coming out of the colon but he didn't think it was funny. I did!

Life size Operation game!

Yep, that's a giant nose you can walk into.

All done with the photo ops. Hot, tired, thirsty, and he wanted to go home.

Hmmm...do you think they were exhausted? I know I was!
