Ft. Worth Children's Museum

Mondo and Ethan had a day off a few weeks ago and we decided to make a family day out of it. We ended up going to the Ft. Worth Children's Museum. I have been wanting to go for years but just never took them. I've had several friends who take their kids regularly and really enjoy it. I guess they haven't met my kids. For them it was lame-o. Part of the problem is that Caleb has the attention span of a gnat. He just wanted to run around and didn't care to learn how things work. Ethan was a little more into it but kept asking where they bouncy houses were. We stayed for a couple of hours then had a late lunch at a pizza joint. I don't think we'll be visiting the museum again anytime soon.

I'm not sure what the point of the hula hoops were but Ethan was frustrated that he couldn't do it.

This was pretty cool. It was this swirly smoke that you could turn into a tornado...until your 2 year old brother comes and karate chops through it.

Future obstetrician?

This was a cool magnifying glass thing that Caleb enjoyed.

Dr. Hernandez

Both boys enjoyed grocery shopping and checking out.

I love this picture. Caleb was crawling all over that thing trying to get to that turtle! We were getting the evil eye from the museum worker.

Lots 'o train tables. We had to keep Caleb away because he kept destroying them.

Checking out some dinosaur specimens under the microscope.

"Dino dig." This would have been better if it wasn't a thousand degrees outside! They got a stick and a paintbrush to go search for buried dinosaur bones. The kids enjoyed it and got covered in sand.

Here's a larger scale view.

Ethan cleaning off his brush.

Caleb just enjoyed splashing in it!

Ethan climbing across a freshly built bridge.

Ethan enjoyed the water stuff outside. He shot the waterguns at the targets and it made the propellers move and water shoot out other places.

He also liked pushing down the lever and making water shoot up high.

I was suprised he was into this. Those are foam bricks that you could stack in between the yellow poles. He was getting into it and telling all the kids to help stack them high. Mean mommy made him leave before he was ready because we were melting and starving!

My Tiny Baby Started Preschool

I can't believe Caleb is starting preschool already!! He is growing way too fast. He goes on Tuesday/Thursday from 9-12. It is the first time in 5 years that mommy has some alone time. But, it really only feels like 2 hours because his school is 20 minutes away. But, it is still good for mommy to get some stuff done and for Caleb to make some friends his age.

This was at Meet the Teacher. He is in class with my neice Caitlin and Tyler's little sister Maddie. Here he is checking out the center room. This is where all of the classes play together.

Almost all of my pics from meet the teacher were blurry because they were running the whole time! That's Maddie. Caitlin wasn't at meet the teacher.

This is the story time mat.

They were so cute together! They will be a handful for their teacher!

Love, love, love this picture! Caleb and Daddy on his first day of school.

Showing his Toy Story backpack.

All ready to go!

Walking down the hall like a big boy.

He wanted me to hold him when we got to the door. He was holding onto me saying, "I want you" in a sad little voice. I was shocked when his teacher put her arms out and he went to her!

Sitting next to Maddie checking out a book.

He got a Happy Meal after school for being such a good boy.

I Have a Kindergartener?

Yep. I have a kindergartener! When did my tiny baby grow up enough for this?! It has defintely been a rocky 3 weeks as a Larson Lion. He was excited for the first day. Then day two came along and he threw up at lunch. I went to pick him up and the nurse told me that he said I made him a bad sandwich! Little stinker! I think he got overheated and chugged a bunch of juice...and that probably mixed with a little nervousness.

He still doesn't like eating lunch at school. It's his least favorite part of the day. I have struggled with finding food that he will eat. And he doesn't want to buy food in the cafeteria...and mommy doesn't want him to either. He's not old enough for that yet!
For the first week and a half of school, he cried every morning and begged us not to take him. It was pretty pitiful. He even cried during lunch. I ate lunch with him once and he was over the moon. But then he was a little sad when I left him. One morning he was clinging to my arm and said, "Don't make me go in there." in his saddest little voice.
Mondo took him to school a few times and now he requests for Daddy to take him. That has been making things go smoother. You know, daddy's don't take the stuff that mommy's do from their kids. :-) We are all relieved that he is liking school better but he still asks every time if he has gone for 5 days in a row yet. He counts down the days until the weekend.

This was from Meet the Teacher night. He was very excited...that excitement quickly faded once school started. :-)

Ethan and Will showing us their lockers.

They've been school buddies since preschool so it is nice to have a friend in the same class. Unfortunantly Tyler and Caroline are in different classes but they get to see each other during recess.

First day of school outside the main entrance.

Outside of his classroom.

His teacher showed him where to put his lunchbox.

Super cute pic of Will and Ethan.

Putting away his backpack.

Here is his Starwars backpack.

He looking like, "ok Mom, enough with the pics...I have learning to do!"

Waiting in line to go home home.

Ethan and Will after school. It has become a daily struggle to make him go home. He always wants to go to Will's or Tyler's...or any other random friend. Makes me feel so loved.

Summer Fun

The boys had a great summer. Most of their days were spent swimming or at Nana's...or swimming at Nana's. Here is a photo documentary of their summer.

Could he be more content? Eating chippies with no clothes on.

The treadmill transforms into a stage with microphones when the boys come over.

I LOVE this picture! Caleb having some coffee time with Papa.

Doesn't everyone wear buckets on their heads? I wonder what they were watching.

Poor dad...no alone time when these boys are around!

Caleb all tucked into Nana & Papa's bed.
My nephew Blaine stayed the night a few times at my parent's house. Ethan is obsessed with Blaine so he is usually there when Blaine is. Caleb is pretending to play the video game too. Poor thing doesn't even know that his controller isn't attached!
Apparently Ethan shares my love for chocolate. Does he look like he's in heaven or what?

Yep, hit the spot.

Soap beard after washing off the chocolate.

Slip and slide fun at Nana and Papa's.
Yes, that is my slide stolen from my neighbor's trash. It was a ghetto fabulous hit at the pool.

I think they were pretending that Madilyn was a dolphin. That's my neice Morgan helping him stay on.

Yikes Daddy!!

Even Ethan liked the ghetto slide.

Cannon ball!
Trying to stay cool on a hot day. Ethan is hiding under his umbrella with his popcicle.

We went to Hawaiian Falls twice this summer. Great place. This one was in The Colony...not as good and clean as the one in Mansfield but the kiddie area was a bit bigger.

Ethan climbed all over these tiny waterfalls. All the kids were sitting in them.

Just hanging out.
What was Ethan hiding from?

That! It dumped out water every 5 minutes or so. Most kids loved it...not mine.

That big pink slide in the background looked fun. You ride an intertube down the little pink slide and it shoots you up the wide pink one. I was shocked that Ethan wanted to do it. Unfortunantly he was too short. :-(

Cool dude in his shades.
