End of School

It's hard to believe how much they grew up in one school year!

Caleb had a little award ceremony in his classroom. Simple and low key.

The kids performed a little song for us.

Mrs. Hooper was a great teacher!

She gave him the "3 Musketeers" award for always being friendly and working well with others. :-)

All of his achievements. I didn't even realize he had perfect attendance. ;-)

They had a cute 3rd grade play that he was super excited about. They got to perform in the big new auditorium that he calls "the secret movie theater".

They sang 7 or 8 songs...I was impressed they could remember all of that!

My little performer.

He also had an end of year party that included games and ice cream. Oh to be in 3rd grade again!

I guess it's a rude awakening when you get to middle school...the parties stop. ;-) But luckily we have some fun mom's who are good at getting the kids together! When the middle school had a half day, we took them to Top Golf in Ft. Worth. All of the kids in this pic were from their school!

6th grade friends. Great group of kids!

Orchestra Events

Ethan was busy at the end of the year with several orchestra events! He had a concert, a contest, and played at the high school graduation!

There's my little cello player on the right at his spring concert.

My handsome cellist.

He had a contest at Itz Pizza during the school day. He was happy to miss an entire day of school! They warmed up in this room...

And performed in this room in front a panel of judges.

They did great and got a trophy! Then he got to stay for several more hours and play games. Sounds like a pretty good day to me!

All done and showing off their trophy!

Looking slick! Ready to go play Pomp and Circumstance at the High School graduation! What an honor!!
The graduation is at our church...The Hills. Small world!!

Field Day

I was sad to learn that middle school doesn't have Field Day. :-( So, it was just me and Caleb this year! He had a great time learning the traditions of his new school's Field Day.

He had a fun time getting to be out on the big football field. It was cloudy for a while but HOT!

Excited for his first place ribbon!

Pit stop for some popsicles.

Running a relay.

Class tug-of-war!

It was intense but his class won!

I was happy to go inside to eat lunch and cool off!

Long jump.

Soccer kick.

Baseball throw.

Wet sponge relay.

Silly boys dunked themselves in the little pool when it was over.

Ahh, nice and cooled off!

Water balloon toss.

Shoe kick...pretty funny!

I was glad that I was able to go...even if I did sweat to death!

Class Trips

One of the fun things about the boys' school is that each grade goes on a class trip toward the end of the school year! I was honestly surprised that Caleb wanted to go on an overnight trip with kids he basically just met but...he did great! His 3rd grade class went to a camp ground about an hour away and stayed over night. He had a great time!! I'll talk about Ethan's a little farther down...

Off they go!

Canoeing with a friend.

Looking for creatures in the water.

Learning about critters.

Playing outside.

He was super excited about archery!

Caleb's 3rd grade class!

Ethan's Class Trip

Ethan's trip was more of a mystery trip...for the kids anyway...the parents knew a lot more about it. He went to Arkansas to a campground that was designed to be little villages in 3rd world countries. They each had to "check in" and find out their identity for the trip. Then they had to go to that "country" and find where they would be sleeping. They had to "work" during the day to earn "money" for food. It was a great experience and it was a lot more fun than it sounded! :-)

I was sad to send my baby away so far!

At least they had a nice ride.

He discovered one of the bathrooms. Yuck!

He's in the orange shirt working hard for his money!

Devo time.

Eating dinner.

They each took turns wearing a "baby". Whoever had to take care of the baby couldn't work therefore, they couldn't make money.

We were SO happy to have him back home safe and sound! He learned to appreciate what he has! ;-)
