State Fair

We always love going to the State Fair! We took the boys out of school a little early and headed off to Dallas. Caleb was so excited to see Big Tex. :-)

Getting so tall!

It was a beautiful day but a little warm so the boys played in the misters.

Checking out some golf memorabilia.

Caleb wanted a pic with the statue of livery. ;-)

Nachos and a Sprite. Now that's a happy kid.

Tornado tators. A favorite for me and Ethan!

The petting zoo is always a favorite. Ethan was a little hesitant to touch the animals but Caleb was the opposite. I had to tell him to keep his hands away from their big chompers!

We checked out a diary truck.

Caleb always wants a slice of cheese pizza when we go. It's not that fabulous but I guess it's Fair food to him!

Of course Ethan had to partake too.

Their MOST favorite thing is playing in the cars! Ethan dreams of which one will be his when he gets older. I told him I didn't see a rusty old truck...which is what he's getting!

Caleb loves monster trucks!

See the little guy on stage in the green shirt? Yep, that's Ethan! He participated in a Toyota show and won some hats and cups.

Playing some games after the Toyota show for prizes.

We really enjoyed going inside one of the buildings to see canned food art.  What they put together with cans was amazing!

Fried Snickers. That's all you need to eat at the Fair. Yum!

The kids loved watching the taffy being pulled.

Mondo just had to have one of these tacos. I thought it smelled better than it tasted but he thought it was pretty tasty!

4th Grade Field Trip

I was able to accompany Ethan on his 4th grade field trip to the Arlington Nature Center. It was a fun field trip full of exploring the woods and looking for nature and then going inside and getting to see real animals. Then of course we headed to the park to play and have a picnic!

Ethan and his buddy Colin are ready to see some nature!

Listening to rules of the hike and finding out what to write on their explorer papers.

The hardest part for this crew?  Being quiet! We didn't see much in the way of animals. Probably because there were 100 4th graders stomping through the forest. We did see a rattle snake though! He scampered off into the woods...luckily away from our trail!

Checking out turtles and snakes...behind the glass.

We heard a science lesson on snails...then got to play with them!

Hard to see but there is a snail in there. They held them and touched them with different objects and had to record their findings. Poor snails.

We saw different creepy animals inside this pen. Here we have yet another snake!

Yippee...we got to touch it!

Checking out a opossum.

And the best part...freedom on the playground! Actually, it got pretty hot so I bailed early. And I felt really bad getting into my nice air conditioned car while the kids piled on the bus! :-/

Crosspoint in the Park

For the past few years, our church has had a picnic in the park to help promote showing our faith to the community and hopefully gain some new members. We had a cookout, live music, games, and singing. It's always a great time but super hot! This year we were at Joe Pool Lake.

Mondo always enjoys helping on the grill.  That was a LOT of burgers and hot dogs to cook for around 200 people!

The kids loved playing in sand volleyball area. They treated it like a beach!

Of course they couldn't resist taking their shoes off and getting in the water. Just deep enough to skip some rocks. :-)

At the end of the picnic we all sang some songs together.  Sounded really pretty outside.
It was a super hot event but we had a great time and look forward to doing it again!

First Day of 1st and 4th Grade

Pretty self explanatory. ;-) Caleb's first day of 1st grade (yes he cried when I dropped him off) and Ethan's first day of 4th grade. I wonder how long I can get away with matching shirts on the first day... ;-)
