I was getting dressed this morning and Ethan came in and said "I was talkin' to a mermaid on the phone." This was a normal thing to happen in my house so I went along with it. Here's his end of the converstation: "I talked to the mermaid. She said 'where your parents?' I said 'I don't know.' I said 'I three.' Mermaid said 'emergency'." At this point I asked him if he was on the phone to a mermaid, he said yes. I saw the message light blinking and played the message. Here's what it said: "This is the police. A child around the age of three called from your house and said there was an emergency. When asked for a parent to be put on the phone the child refused. When asked what was the emergency the child kept saying mermaid. We are now sending two officers to your home to verify the welfare of the child."
Now, let me just say that I have never taught Ethan about calling 911...for this very reason. This morning he was playing with the phone and just happened to dial it. He probably only said emergency because the dispatcher said it. A few minutes later two police officers showed up and were looking in the window...to see Ethan standing there alone in his underwear. I ran to the door to show them I was there. I apologized and said that he was playing on the phone and we were fine. At least they were nice about it. After they left he started crying for Daddy because he thought he was in trouble. I guess it was a little scary to see police officers at the door knowing they were there because he was the one who called them. I'm sure this won't deter him from continuing to play on the phone. Beware, some of you may receive a phone call from him in the future!

Oh my! I couldn't imagine Emma doing this. I'm now scared for when Jackson is older! =)
I'm sorry, but that IS hilarious!
Oh my goodness, that is crazy! LOL! I just taught Ashlyn about 911 this summer. I hope she doesn't decide to dial it soon!
This is Boomer, and not Sonja--Wendy, I love it! It made me laugh out loud and reminded me of the time that Grant pulled the fire alarm at church!!!
Aren't our precious little boys so sweet! And just to think that if we had girls there would be drama!!! LOL!!
