Howdy Y'all!

Ahh...the state fair. It brings warms fuzzies every time I think about it. I went every year as a child and I'm excited to do the same thing with my kids. Caleb went for the first time last year and every few weeks after he would ask, "Can we go see Big Tex?" So he was very excited to see him as soon as we walked in! We don't ride anything or play games. Just check out exhibits and eat fried food!

This cracks me up. He was just staring up at Big Tex with his head tilted over trying to take it all in. So cute!!

Awww....melt my heart. Sometimes those brothers do love each other. ;-)

Ethan couldn't wait to get his hands on some Tornado Tators! It is one of our favorite Fair foods. I'm determined to find the drill that makes them so I can make them at home! He ate most of this basket by himself.

Caleb opted for boring french fries. Lame-o, Caleb! You're at the Fair!! All he wanted the whole time was fries and chips. I need to teach this boy how to eat Fair food!

Checking out an exhibit about eating healthy. These two boys definitely need to pay attention to that!

Petting the baby cow by the dairy exhibit.

Elsie the cow!

Eating our free ice cream from the food and fiber building.

Ethan loves to push Caleb around...in the stroller I mean.

Yummy ice cream!

If I want to be in a picture I have to take it myself!

We watched the dog show for the first time this year. It was ok. I think we can survive without seeing it again. It was pretty much a bunch of Dobermans jumping over stuff.

We watched the end of a show that showed how to "break" a horse. Pretty interesting. Caleb thought it was a snoozefest.

Waiting for Daddy to bring some more food.

Wait a minute...that's not Fair food...it's pizza! You're killing me guys!

Thanks for the pizza dad!

We also saw the pig races for the first time. Not exciting. At all. It was mainly a bunch of talking with about 10 seconds of racing. That big pig didn't race. It was "retired". It was a bunch of little ones trapped in a cage. I actually felt kinda bad watching it. We won't watch it again next year.

When Ethan got tired, Caleb happily gave up his spot in the stroller and wanted to push Bubba. He didn't get to push for long...he needs to work on his driving skills.

He loves Big Tex and wanted to stand there and look at him...not pose for a picture.

My sweet Ethan. Always up for a pose. And look how tall he's getting! Finally breaking the 48 inch mark!

Fried cake balls. They sounded better than they were. The fried Snickers still holds the #1 place in my heart...literally. I really wanted to try the fried hot sauce but we couldn't find it!

Not sure why he likes to pose like a gangster.

We caught the end of the parade. We had to sprint from the end to the middle to be able to see it.

This picture gives mommy a heart attack!

This one was a little more appropriate. But still scary for my tiny baby!

This truck was all about 9/11. Ethan looked at it and said it was sad. :-(

This robot was hilarious! I guess there was some kind of camera in it because he was interacting with the audience. Great idea Ford!

Someday Ethan....

This was pretty cool. A car pool table! And on another note, we checked out the new Sienna (the minivan we have now) and Mondo said he'd buy another one when this one dies. I was shocked! I thought for sure we'd put our minivan days to rest when the kids got older. But it really is a practical car. I never thought I'd turn Mondo into a minivan lover!

I agree with you about Fair Food. People that get pizza and burgers are wasting a great opportunity. The fried cookie dough is my favorite Fair food.
