Destin Part 1

We went to the beach with our friends Mike and Traci and their kids.  We actually stayed about 45 mintues outside of Destin at Navarre Beach.  We stayed together in a beach front house.  It was so nice to be able to walk to the beach from the back door! But we ended up driving to Destin a lot so I think next time we'll stay closer to Destin.  We stayed for a week and had a great time!  And of course the kids loved being able to spend every waking moment with their friends. :-)

We were super excited to stop by the Duck Commander shop on the way to Florida!  We're total Duck Dynasty nerds. :-) It was so crazy to be on the property where they work and film!  We kept our eyes peeled for any family members but didn't see anyone.

This chair was inside the shop. This is the actual building they work in but they turned part of it into a shop that sells shirts, hats, duck calls, etc.

This was a close as I could get to Jase. ;-) Mondo took this picture...while rolling his eyes.

Travelling in style. Eating snacks and watching movies!

After a 2 day journey we made it! (We drove about 9 hours and stayed overnight in a hotel then drove the remaining 3 hours the next morning.)

Our first stop was Whale's Tale. This was the restaurant where Ethan first had shrimp the summer before. It's always fun to eat outside by the beach!

Colton and Ethan.

Beautiful view from our patio!

Ethan, Caleb, Colton, and Carson.

I had to snap a few photos of us. :-) I tried to hide in the shade most of the time.

We found a big crab in the sand.  Yes, we let it go after the photo.

Always have to have a relaxing foot pic on the beach.

I loved being able to walk from the beach and have lunch on our patio then head back out for more beach fun without ever getting in the car!

They worked a long time on buildig forts in the sand.

I made sand art. :-)

There is a lot of rain in Florida.  Storms would creep in out of nowhere but at least you could see them coming from far away!

Playing some card games inside.

Working on another fort. The water kept rising and destroying it.

The kids always want to eat at Fuddpuckers.  It's a fun restaurant with alligators to feed and lots of things to see.

Ethan posed himself.

Caleb was in heaven.  He loves gators!

Yikes!

We left Fuddpuckers and decided to go hunt for a dessert place.  And this is where our story takes a dramatic turn. :-/  Right after I took this picture we went outside so the boys could eat their ice cream. Mondo went up some stairs to check out the restaurant about the ice cream place.  When he was walking back down he slipped ALL THE WAY down the stairs due to recent rain and slippery flip flops. I actually heard the tumble and walked over to see what the noise was and was shocked to see Mondo laying at the bottom of the stairs. He was in SERIOUS pain. Like pain I've never seen on him before. He could barely stand up and couldn't walk. It was his hip/back. They boys were worried but I acted like it was nothing so they would leave him alone. But I really wanted to throw up watching Mondo in agony. I managed to get him to the car with him walking/limping VERY slowly. I really wanted him to go to the ER but he didn't want to. We got back to the house and I loaded him up with Ibuprofen and gave him an ice pack and put him in bed. Stay tuned to the next post for the rest of the story...
