Destin Part 2

Well to continue the saga of Mondo's injury...the next day I got the boys ready and headed to the beach while Mondo rested. He eventually hobbled his way down to the beach and stayed for a while. It was really hard for him to sit on the little half beach chairs that rest on the ground. It was extrememly painful to sit. Long story short, he was able to stay at the beach a little longer each day but was still in pain. The road trip home was pretty brutal for him. I'm still convinced that he had a hairline fracture in his hip or extremely pulled muscle/ligament in his back. He was in pain the rest of the week when we got home but eventually got better.

Caleb lost a tooth while we were there.

Ethan made friends with the kids who stayed in the house right next to us. They played together on the beach.

They had an awesome time riding the waves on inner tubes.

Of course it gave me a heart attack to watch them crash into the sand!

Digging holes in the beach.

Caleb LOVED boogie boarding! He even made a little video of him giving instruction on how to do it. ;-)

Our set up every day. Can't complain about that!

Beautiful sunset one night.

Love to sit and watch the waves.

The girls. Me, Traci, and Ashlyn.

Traci and her family went on an excursion and we went exploring to find some new water to play in. We pulled over when we saw a lot of people hanging out in some beautiful water. It was the perfect place to see through the crystal clear water and see the fish without being too deep.

But it was too good to be true. The boys kept saying something was scratching them in the water. I watched the water very close and found little jellyfish!  They were floating around everywhere! Mostly the size of a golf ball to baseball and they were clear so they were hard to see. The boys had red marks on their legs so we left. We were so bummed to leave that beautiful water!!

The kids played in the sandy back yard in the evenings while we got dinner ready.

Best buds.

We ate lunch at Mcguires which is a place we discovered last year. It's a fun pub type atmosphere. There are dollars stapled EVERYWHERE from walls to ceilings. You're supposed to write on a dollar and staple it anywhere you want. Kind of fun.

We did some more exploring and found another great spot...jelly fish free! The water looks brown but it was really clear. It was just so shallow for so far out. There were tons of little white fish that the boys were trying to catch with their nets.

We floated around for hours trying to catch these little fish! They would get super close but dart away so fast.
We finally caught one! And threw it right back.

There were also tons of hermit crabs at this little beach. I found the mother of all hermit crabs! I almost kept it but I put him back.
My little beach bum LOVES the beach!

Playing some volleyball in the ocean.

Looking for fish/seashells.

We found this GIANT crab swimming with us. We showed all the kids then let her go. Yes, her. Her abdomen was covered with eggs! It was pretty gross.

Getting seashells for mommy.

This fish floated up to shore which I thought was odd...until I realized it was dead. So of course they kids wanted a picture with it! ;-)

Caleb playing with the seagulls.

Playing chicken with the dads.

Tired critter relaxing and watching movies on my Kindle.

So long beautiful beach!
